Woofgang started with a dog who panicked in the middle of a lake.
A three-year-old labrador, a strong swimmer, who followed a duck out too far. On the way back he stopped making progress. His owner had to swim out for him. It ended fine — but you do not forget those ten minutes.
We went looking for a life jacket. We bought four. None of them held the dog's head above water once he tired: either there was no head float, or it was decorative. And none had a handle strong enough to lift 28 kg of wet dog with one arm.
What we changed
- A head float that actually works. Padded, sized to carry the weight of the head — not just to look right in a photograph.
- A reinforced back handle. Stitched into the structure, not added on top. You should be able to lift your dog out with one arm, leaning off a jetty.
- Six sizes. Because a vest that is too big rolls, and a vest that rolls is useless.
What we will not claim
We do not manufacture ourselves. We design, we specify, we have it produced, and we check what goes out. We are not going to call ourselves artisans — it would not be true.
And we will not tell you a vest replaces supervision. No vest does that. It buys you time and gives you something to grab. That is already a great deal, and that is all it is.
